Life Purpose – your soul’s mission

I believe that we were all sent here for a reason and that we all have significance in the world. I genuinely feel that we are all blessed with unique gifts. The expression of our gifts contributes to a cause greater than ourselves.
However, a life purpose isn’t just about a career. People seem to assume that we’re either genetically or divinely encoded with some sort of built-in purpose, and all we need to do is take the time to discover it through private introspection. You just sit down one day and write a mission statement and trust that what comes out of you will be the guiding force for the rest of your life. Perhaps every 6-12 months you update it.

In the work I do as a Psychic Medium, there has been numerous individuals coming in and out of my office door. Some I have discovered had tons of questions about their life purpose. It’s one of the most difficult reads there is since the discovery of a life purpose is the journey of growth and learning. This can’t just be told, it needs to be experienced in order for the growth to take seed. Most do not understand this at all.

Here’s a story about Bruce Lee. A master martial artist asked Bruce to teach him everything Bruce knew about martial arts. Bruce held up two cups, both filled with liquid. “The first cup,” said Bruce, “represents all of your knowledge about martial arts. The second cup represents all of my knowledge about martial arts. If you want to fill your cup with my knowledge, you must first empty your cup of your knowledge.”

If you want to discover your true purpose in life, you must first empty your mind of all the false purposes you’ve been taught (including the idea that you may have no purpose at all).
This sounds easy, but it’s actually quite difficult. Remember, it’s easier said than done.

To be satisfied and fulfilled you must do something you love to do. But it is not always easy to do that. You will find yourself drifted away from doing what you love and do other things to just make a living. You may be successful but not satisfied and your soul may be looking for something bigger to pursue. This is what I call feeding your soul. There are many people who find themselves placing themselves on the back burner. They get lost in the lives of others, hence moving away from their own life.

To make a long story short, most people find themselves unhappy because their life chapters are shifting. It’s that simple, let’s not complicate things. Be sure to journal, it forces us to focus and allows our truth to be told. There is a need to see the reasons of unhappiness and slowly make the changes, which can be very complicated, to ease into the next chapter of your life.
We all have intuition that we can access. Numerous times a client will have their questions validated to what they already knew.

Teen Mom 2 = Reality…HUH?!

My name is Barb Powell and I’m a reality TV junkie and yes I admit, I watch Teen Mom 2!! What’s not to like about it….it’s sweet, salty and sometimes leaves a bitter after taste, but always makes you want more.

I’ve heard all the comments and opinions on such pregnancy shows. Just recently Kim Kardashian blogged, “It seems that shows like ‘Teen Mom‘ are all of a sudden making teen pregnancy seem cool in the eyes of young girls. The kids from these shows are all over the news, even on the covers of magazines, and have been become almost like celebrities, but girls, these are not people you should idolize!”
Seriously? Even my 12 year old knows that teen pregnancy isn’t ‘cool’ due in part to watching this show. It’s something I use to teach, kinda like showing your teen a book on venereal diseases and saying having sex can cause this!! It helps open the subject to show how difficult a teen pregnancy can be.

Well this now brings me to the train wreck called Jenelle Evans & mom Barbara Evans! Barbara keeps asking what she’s ever done to deserve such a daughter as Jenelle Evans. Jenelle has been known to steal her mother’s credit card and spend it on a trip with her boyfriend, smoking pot while pregnant, leaving her son with her mother to go out partying, shoving her mother and beating up a so called friend!
Despite Jenelle’s protestations, she did lose custody of her son to her mother Barbara Evans (57). On June 10, 2010 Jenelle signed over “primary legal custody and primary physical custody” to Barbara. Now we turn to Jenelle’s mom Barbara who has called her daughter unlovable, has troubling finding three things that are positive about her daughter. On the MTV show, Barbara is shown constantly screaming at Jenelle and trying to gain control of situations.

I think they’re both bat crap crazy, but I would tell Barbara that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree! I’m not excusing Jenelle’s behavior but for the love of all that’s holy, stop screaming at your child…especially in front of your grandchild. She already knows right from wrong, you don’t have to drive it down her throat. Listen to her, really hear her….don’t defend your actions or try to be right. Raising a child isn’t a competition and if it was, you’d surely receive an F for fail!

Jenelle, grow up we all know how your mom is but that as well isn’t an excuse. There is only one person that you can count on in your life and that is you! Ignore your mom when she yells. Don’t throw wood on the fire such as trying to defend yourself or reason with her. It won’t work when a person is already in a heightened state of anger. The fire will only burn brighter.

Predictions: Barbara’s health isn’t that great. I would be surprised if she didn’t have issues with blood pressure and anxiety. I see a trip to the hospital in her future. She will find that her children keep coming back to her and be used and abused. Stop the cycle!
Jenelle will continue to draw controversy. Both of these people have good energy and tons of potential but they need to pay attention to themselves instead of each other. Jenelle will drop out of school if she hasn’t already with the idea of going back later when things ‘calm’ down.

I hope someone out there will offer them family counseling!

Celebrity Predictions: Demi Lovato

I received an email via my website to make some predictions in regards to Demi Lovato…and of course I shall oblige! There are many people right now who are obviously concerned, curious and just down right wanting some gossip.

I try to be as ethical as I possibly can when doing profiling on a person since they personally didn’t ask for it. It’s really none of any one’s business why she is in rehab or what is going on in her life personally. But I will take a good look and write down what I feel. When I look at Demi Lovato’s energy (aura) I tend to feel a heaviness weighing her down. I see visions of her sitting down and having what I describe as emotional breakdowns. Crying and feeling very alone, not knowing who to trust and trying to be someone she’s not. Meaning she is feeling pressure to be what she feels everyone wants her to be. Plus I feel such a huge responsibility on her shoulders to please! Please family, not having true friends or anyone to truly turn to when in need. I also feel like I’m falling out of control with resentment/anger that has been building up for a long time. Basically long story short, she has lost herself in this maze called life. Her true identity! She doesn’t know who she is any longer, but she will find herself and continue on.

It feels like she is really wanting to do well. To help people, especially young kids who are going through some of the same things she is going through, watch for an appearance on Oprah this year! She will discuss issues with control, control of everything such as life, friends, fans and a huge issue with trying to please. There is also a food issue that I see with her, perhaps bulimia. She will overcome and succeed. But there will be another falling out towards the end of next year. I do not see her having a huge issue with drugs, but perhaps a little too much alcohol. I keep hearing that she doesn’t want to be like her father. Just like us ‘normal’ non celeb folk, she has issues just like the rest of us. I guess money and fame isn’t everything eh?

Demi is actually a very sweet energy, meaning she means well and truly wants to do what’s best for her, although I feel she is way too much of a pleaser (I’ve said that way too many times in this blog). It’s a cycle with her, she wants to do what is best for her mother and feels bad when she feels like she has failed, wants to do what is best for her fans and feel bad when she feels like she has failed.

If Demi was right in front of me I would say to her, look….you have a choice right now of moving on in life. A choice to be who you are suppose to be in this life (she has an identity crisis) and trust your own instincts and never doubt yourself! Take back your power instead of giving it away freely to everyone. You do that by listening to that inner self talk, the voice that is heard by only you. Listen to your own feelings, body and what it’s trying to tell you. Marinate in the feelings and peel it back like layers of an onion to go through each of them. Identify where the emotions are coming from, identify do not analyze.

Canadian Psychic Medium heading to Los Angeles, California

Hello everyone! Big news…I’m heading to Los Angeles California!!

I fly into LAX on August 12th to August 18th. I may be doing some private readings or psychic gatherings if I have time. It’s January…2009!

Hello everyone, it’s freakin cold outside eh? My gosh. I have heard that the 2009 connections tour will be postponed, no worries though. Everything happens for a reason. Those who have signed up can stay signed up, eventually the new date will be posted and everyone will be contacted to see if they are still interested. I’m not concerned as I just allow life to take place and keep moving forward. I may not understand what my guides are trying to do, but I have to trust.

This year, 2009 I will be focusing on cold cases. I will probably work on one or two cases a year. Meaning I will actually go out to locations, see people, etc using my intuitive investigations if you will. I do profiling and this is a part of what I want to do. Although not something I want to be known for. I just have to wait for those to contact. That will be my guide. I have already put out in the Universe that if it’s something I’m suppose to do in 2009, it will find me.

I have also been booking psychic parties and other such things. People have contacted me and said I’ll arrange for such a number of people to be at my home for you to ‘read’ them. Sure, why not. I will only read for half hour per person, it’s cheaper as well than my regular half hour fee. Of course it depends though on how far I will travel. And I will travel. I have already been to Spiritwood, which is about 2hrs away from where I live. I required an overnight fee and travel fees. Which wasn’t too bad. It was still cheaper per person than my regular fee for the half hour. It worked out well for all involved! I had a great time as well, a bit tired…but I love meeting new people and seeing the energy changes and shifts in them. Plus a bonus for the host, or person who organizes it is that they get their half hour for free if it’s more than 10 people they book!

I had a voice mail saying that people are having troubles working my online calendar….I haven’t received too many emails about it. Now granted it can be confusing. I may not keep it and just go by email to book…who knows. Telephone is difficult to find me or my assistant to book. Keep trying eventually we will connect! As far as I know, I may be heading to Florida this October 2009….I’m sure I’ll know more closer to the date.

New Website….and had a great Halloween with the kids!

Hello everyone, I’ve had a few long months. First of all I haven’t been feeling well and either have the children. It was one cold and illness over and over again. One child get’s it and then the other one gets it! Oh well, we’re all feeling better right now anyways.

My family went out for Halloween last night, it was a fun time but exhausting. My oldest was dressed up as a southern belle, complete with a long fancy dress and hat. My 3 year old was dressed as a dinasaur, she loves them…not sure why. My 20 month old was a unicorn! They all loved it. We only were out for about an hour before they were all tired and cranky. My two oldest kept fighting over who would knock on the door, sigh.

I will post some pictures as soon as I can. Oh and on a last note, I was interviewed on Saskatoon Global Television the other day. It was interesting, although the person they had me ‘read’ for wasn’t someone who actually wanted to be read, so a bit difficult but I sorta got through it…hahahhaa. It aired last night. I’ll try to have that video posted one of these days.

I am back from Regina. Was a long couple of days but I’m glad and feel very accomplished that I have reached as many people as I did. There are not too many consultations that I have with people that greatly affect me. Not to be mean, but there is part of me that I have to disassociate my work from my emotions. Just as a doctor has to disassociate from their clients. However, this past weekend I had encountered a couple of ‘tough’ sessions. It’s very emotionally difficult to bring through certain loved ones who have crossed over that you can just feel the pain in the living. It hurts physically and emotionally. Or those sessions with the living who are what I call ‘lost’, because no matter what you actually say…they may not be at a place to ‘get it’. But I say everything I need to say and spirit needs to say, because some day down the road they may ‘get it’ and the change will begin. I always tend to worry whether this work is what I’m suppose to do, just like everyone else I guess who take a good look at their own stories. The other day I sat down with myself in the dark and asked, “what I can do to help, to change the world, to inspire, to make people happy, to motivate”. The answer I got was: ”There will be those who will agree and there will be those who disagree. There will be those who will try to defeat and persecute. Keep doing what you’re doing, it would be no different if you were to change your life for others.”

So I am left the in the same place that I began. The most important thing is that I am happy. There was a time in my life that I had to my life, yet what I didn’t understand at the time is that life keeps changing.

The following are some of my personal sayings that I’ve learned over time. We all know them, but the hardest part is to actually live by them:

Don’t make things harder than they have to be.
Who needs enemies when we see them staring back at us in a mirror…be kind to yourself.
We are all individually powerful! We can change the ending of our own personal story.
Stop living in the past! Don’t take offense but I don’t care what has happened to you yesterday or 10 years ago…what’s important is what happens tomorrow. What are you going to do…resist or yield?
There comes an age with our children that we have to parent differently. They are adults and must make their own choices and decisions, they mostly want support and encouragement. They’ll then come to the correct choice without pressure.
Stop caring about what society wants or expects…you’re the only one who can take care of you. Trust yourself!
You can work on trust by trusting yourself first through your actions.
Listening to your intuition can give you the means to depend on yourself rather than rely completely on others.

Just Another Day

Took off today to get my hair and nails done..yes I cut my hair. A good 4 inches off and layered. I get back to work tomorrow after 3 full days off. One of my sessions tomorrow is by telephone from Ohio and the others are in person. I enjoy my telephone sessions, mainly because I do not have to ‘dress up’…lol

We had a blizzard today, there is tons of snow on the ground now, the other day the temperature was minus 26 degrees. Yes, that wasn’t a typo…minus 26 for all of you in very warm areas….sigh, I know I was born to live in a warm place! The wind is bone chilling. Have any of you been watching America’s Psychic Challenge? I do not get that channel here in Canada where I live. I have a good friend that is competing and I do wish I could watch it.

I can’t believe it’s almost December! Where did November go….where did summer go? WOW. My daughter has her first Christmas party of 2007 next week, she’s bringing her little sister…that should be fun. I have a few events planned for December, one of them being a seminar of a gallery like setting. If you ever watched John Edward/James Van Praagh TV shows, then it will be similar. I do not offer this type often and thought I’d go out on a limb. Reason being, I don’t like being the center of attention….funny isn’t it. My work as psychic medium gives me enough attention, I don’t need more! But I am stepping outside of my comfort zone because I feel it’s needed.

The next 5 days are going to be a whirl of consultations and travel. Heading to Regina yet again and also to St.Louis, SK. Full days and then heading back to Saskatoon. Plus the days in between are private sessions, telephone and in person. Mostly in person this week. Aside from the Ohio telephone reading, there is California and also British Columbia and some other place but I can’t remember now. I am now booking into middle of December, I hate to even be that far off with bookings….until next time, keep warm!
